I write code for a living and build things on the side. By day I turn survey data into answers at a market research firm in Florida. The rest of the time I'm shipping software: a startup with my brother, a wholesale business's back office, a texting platform. What I enjoy most is the problem solving and the systems architecture: working out how the pieces should fit before writing them. A strong math background from school helps with both.

Problems first, code second

I was the math kid in school, and it stuck. I'd rather spend an hour on the shape of a problem and an afternoon on the architecture than a week patching something that was never designed.

Trees, water, long walks. And movies: I care about how a story is told as much as what it says, and I'd like to tell a few of my own one day.
