Hi, I'm Praveen.
I'm a software developer and data analyst at Global Marketing Research Services in Melbourne, Florida. I work on survey projects from start to finish: cleaning and weighting data, running projections, automating the repetitive parts, and building the internal tools and websites that make the work faster. I'm as much a programmer there as an analyst, and the programming is the part I enjoy most.
Outside of work I help my brother build Vextora Labs, and I wrote the software behind Melbourne Wholesale, a wholesale business. I've also been part of one of the larger projects I've worked on so far: a texting platform with scheduling, approvals, and a supervisor console.
Education
- Florida Institute of Technology, MS in Computer Information Systems (2022–2024).
- Vardhaman College of Engineering, B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (2018–2022).
Before America
In India I spent time with the Government of India, including its entrepreneurship training programme. That's where the habit of building things started. During the 2020 lockdown I started Prakrutis, a small company that got food to people stuck at home during COVID. It ran only for a short time, with a good team, and it did real work. It shut down when I moved to the US for my master's.
How I work
The parts of software I like most are problem solving and systems architecture: understanding the whole problem, deciding how the pieces fit, and only then writing code. I was always strong at math in school, and that shows up in how I approach things, from survey weighting to database design. Most of what I build is boring in the best way: reliable, documented, and still running a year later.
Off the clock
I like being outside: trees, water, long walks with no destination. I watch a lot of films and pay attention to how they're built, and someday I'd like to tell a few stories of my own. Longer term, I want to take what I've learned here and put it to work back in India, closer to the land I grew up on.
